After a successful 25 year career in the travel industry, I came to the conclusion that I had hit both the mental and financial ceiling. Though I loved the industry, and it has brought me more memories than I can recall, I knew the business no longer offered me the personal joy I have always appreciated when serving customers one on one. As the president of the vacation division of a large national company, I was instrumental in helping to create a lasting brand, had been involved in 35 mergers and acquisitions, and had grown my division by over 300%. This was done largely by keeping my group focused on the customer experience, or as we said “for the experience”. What I came to realize was as the company continued to grow, I found myself further and further away from the customer. Success was measured in the board room reviewing quarterly reports.
In 2006 I decided to take the plunge in to what was always a passion of mine: Real Estate. I had been active in purchasing businesses, negotiating leases and helping travel agency owners’ transition into the next phase of their life. With this experience, I felt confident that it would be a natural transition and would allow me the best opportunity to go back to working one on one with people as they move towards their own next phase in life. Today, I am thankful for the trust and faith my clients have placed in me and am honoured to say that 90% of my business now comes from repeat clients and their referrals. I have often said through my 10+ years of being a realtor that my only regret is that I waited so long!
